Traditional design, changes in elevation and panoramic views make the course at Riddell’s Bay Golf & Country Club a golfer’s dream. This short course caters to a variety of skill levels and requires your full arsenal of clubs. Andy Mocklow, Director of Golf, shows off one of the course’s most challenging holes, and golf pro Brian Morris offers insider’s tips on how to play this complicated stretch.
Experienced players will find some of the course’s holes relatively easy, but the eighth levels the playing field. The 360-yard par 4 is a dogleg right, with the green sitting pretty on a peninsula surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. The raised tee features a sweeping seascape and offers a whimsical view of the Gibbs Hill Lighthouse beyond the green. With a landing area only 15 to 20 yards wide and three greenside bunkers, a drive to the pin is a feat only the boldest players would attempt. Careful planning and a little bit of luck will carry you down the fairway, but beware its two bunkers and low-lying areas, which will require blind shots toward the flagstick.
